Pre-Purchase survey on Beneteau Barracuda 9 in Kilkeel

Down in Kilkeel this week surveying this great sea boat for the prospective buyer. Unfortunately he didn’t want a sea trial, but I’m sure the twin 150hp Suzuki outboards, deep vee hull and aerated step in the hull down aft would make her perform well in the RCD Cat B Offshore conditions she is designed for. The boat was new in 2016 so very little was wrong as you’d expect, but I always manage to come away with a list! Even relatively new boats can have secrets, and it’s easy to get carried away in the excitement. You may forget to check the fire extinguishers; these are almost always out of date and the automatic gaseous extinguishers fitted in engine compartments can be very expensive.
