Ultrasonic Thickness Survey

Steel hull plating can loose thickness due to erosion, corrosion and sometimes blasting. An ultrasonic thickness survey can tell you how much material remains on the hull plating. This is typically done by taking measurements along four longitudinal bands (two port, two starboard) and three lateral bands (belly bands).
